New Jersey Consumer Fraud Litigation

Representation of individuals and property owners pursuing claims involving deceptive business practices, contractor misconduct, fraudulent financing arrangements, and material misrepresentations in consumer transactions.

Overview

The New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act

The New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act is one of the most powerful consumer protection statutes in the country. It prohibits deceptive practices, material misrepresentations, and unconscionable commercial conduct in connection with consumer transactions.

Where liability is established, the statute permits recovery of three times the consumer's economic loss, together with attorney's fees and litigation costs. Those remedies can materially change the litigation posture of a dispute.

Many disputes involving home improvement contracts, real estate transactions, construction financing, and deceptive business practices fall within the statute's scope.

Proof Strategy

Establishing liability under the statute

A plaintiff generally must demonstrate unlawful conduct, ascertainable loss, and a causal relationship between the conduct and the damages suffered. That often requires detailed review of contracts, invoices, financing records, emails, inspection records, and transaction documents.

Case Inquiry

Direct access to counsel starts with a focused intake.

Because the practice accepts only a limited number of matters, inquiries are screened before representation is considered.
